I’ve been away for a bit, and my excuse is that we’ve been on a whirlwind trip to Europe, and before that, in a whirlwind of preparations for the trip! I’ve eaten my way through Switzerland and France (with a day in Germany and one in England) in a matter of two weeks, and that’s enough bread, wine, cheese, and chocolate to give me plenty to think and write about. I’ll post more in depth reports in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, here’s a quick preview of the adventures:
Discovering the real Foie Gras (including meeting the geese on the farm and seeing how it’s made), the surprises discovered when one doesn’t understand a menu (bad surprise: the BIG difference between Andouille and Andouillette, good surprise: just about everything else we ate), wedding cakes involving fireworks, wine, wine, and more wine, lots and lots of cheese, non-stop chocolate, and my personal favorite, a Nutella-like chocolate spread that comes in a squeezable container (yes!).
